Opportunities at KeelWorks Internships The KeelWorks Foundation is driven by volunteers. We use try to give volunteers a real industry experience with clear process, guidelines, and objective role criteria. We allow volunteers to represent their volunteer experience as actual work experience, if they contribute. We have volunteer roles for experienced professionals and internships for career changers or those at entry-level to a given discipline. At every level, KeelWorks applies the collaborative model.
Internship Requirements How to apply for an internship Review the internship opportunities below. If an internship appeals to you, send an email expressing interest and attach you resume and be sure to include the best time to contact you, as well as the best way to contact you.

Current Internships What's in it for me? Change the world and change yourself while you're at it.

Whatever your goal in life, experience is a great teacher. If you have education but need job experience, a KeelWorks internship can fix this. If you have a career interest, a KeelWorks internship provides a testing ground.

We treat interns and volunteers as we would employees, perhaps because we are all volunteers. Comply with the volunteer/internship agreement and we'll provide the reference. Our volunteers and interns add KeelWorks experience to their resume just as they do any job, and we respond to prospective employers as we would for an employee (we don't refer to pay or status).

Volunteer Needs Department and section leads donate five hours a week. They are responsible for department/section process, process guidelines, and they support an internship program for their field. All work is collaborative, department managers work with section managers and departments have support from other departments as well. With only five hours a week, KeelWorks must spread the load. Volunteers generally manage a unit, but we also have volunteers who simply support sections.

Most volunteers participate to support the vision, but some have an additional motive. Experienced professionals who want to advance to a leading role us a KeelWorks volunteer role as a stepping stone. Many discover that employers want a track record of leadership; experience and knowledge is secondary to them. A volunteer serving as a section or department manager obtains actual leadership experience they can add to their resume.

KeelWorks provides managers a clear structure for team collaboration and process documentation. When you build a KeelWorks unit and make it run, you demonstrate competence. Others participate for the simple pleasure of seeing effective structure in action. KeelWorks volunteer opportunities support career growth, and KeelWorks enthusiastically supports volunteers and interns in their job search.
To volunteer, please send an email to volunteer@keelworks.org. Indicate your area of interest and attach a resume if you have one. Be sure to let us know the best way to contact you.
