The KeelWorks Learning Core Competencies KeelWorks believes that personal power derives from competencies. To affect change, we must be competent. While we believe in education, and never stop learning, we belove learning should begin with concepts more basic than the usual academic subjects. We believe there are certain core competencies that enable us to effectively apply all other learning. The Core Competencies

We believe learners will struggle to find context in learning until they have a clear sense of who they are (Self-identity). We believe the ability to bond with others for common goals is essential to success (Team-building). We believe life is full of problems, and we wouldn't have it any other way; yet few have a strategy for facing problems (Problem-solving). We understand how a wrong response can further complicate a difficult situation (Assertiveness). We know communication is fundamental to social interaction (Communication). These ten competencies enable us manage our lives, face crises with confidence, and provide leadership to those around us.
KeelWorks Learning The KeelWorks learning is less about telling than exploring and doing. We can't bring a classroom to every participant, so asynchronous web-based learning is our medium. Taking a page from university learning, our learning depends on peer-to-peer interaction. We have no teachers, only facilitators. Facilitators never answer questions, except in the form of a question. Facilitators are as ignorant as the learners. We expect learners to teach and to leave their mark on our learning. We do not expect competence by course completion.

Just as important as the course is the prolonged team interaction after the formal learning. KeelWorks will leverage learner defined progress metrics to track progress on goals and we'll expect peers to push peers to apply core competencies. Our design must drive this.
